Facile and green methodology for surface‐grafted Al2O3 nanoparticles with biocompatible molecules: preparation of the poly (vinyl alcohol)@ poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) nanocomposites

Abstract

The present work describes preparation of modified alumina with biocompatible, water soluble, and treating agents such as citric acid and ascorbic acid. Also, the influence of the modified nanoparticles (NPs) into the blend of poly(vinyl alcohol)@poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (50/50) matrix was studied. At first, citric acid and ascorbic acid as environmental friendly agents were grafted on the surface of Al2O3 NPs.

Electrochemical synthesis of diverse sulfonamide derivatives depending on the potential electrode and their antimicrobial activity evaluation

Abstract

Electrochemical synthesis of two different series of sulfonamides has been performed using the same precursors, 4-(4-nitrophenyl)urazole and arylsulfinic acids, by controlling the potential during electrolysis. Electrochemical reduction of 4-(4-nitrophenyl)urazole has been studied in the presence of arylsulfinic acids. The results indicate that via a paired electrosynthesis 4-(4-nitrophenyl)urazole is reduced at the surface of the cathode. The reductively generated 4-(4-aminophenyl)urazole is subsequently oxidized at the surface of anode.

Poly (vinyl alcohol)/CaCO3‐diacid nanocomposite: Investigation of physical and wetting properties and application in heavy metal adsorption

ABSTRACT

Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanocomposite and modified CaCO3 nanoparticles (NPs) were fabricated by ultrasound agitation method with particle content altering from 3, 5, and 8 wt %. The CaCO3 surface was successfully treated by 10 wt % of bioactive dicarboxylic acid (DA). The influences of loading modified NPs on the thermal, mechanical, adsorption, contact angle, and physical properties of the poly(vinyl alcohol) nanocomposite films were thoroughly studied.

Effects of citric acid-functionalized ZnO nanoparticles on the structural, mechanical, thermal and optical properties of polycaprolactone nanocomposite films

Abstract In this paper, nanocomposite (NC) films of citric acid (CA)-modified zinc oxide (ZnO) and polycaprolactone (PCL) were fabricated by solvent casting and evaporation method. The prepared films were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. Then, the effect of the CA-ZnO content on physiochemical properties of the PCL/ZnO-CA NCs was studied.

Properties of PS/TiO2 electrospun fibres using limonene as a solvent

Abstract

Limonene, a natural solvent, has been used for producing polystyrene (PS) nanocomposite (NC) fibres. Nanocomposite fibres of PS are prepared by electrospinning of a homogeneous solution of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (NPs) and PS. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of PS nanocomposite fibres confirms the presence of TiOnanoparticles in the samples. FTIR spectra of PS nanocomposite fibres obviously show that there is no chemical linkage or interaction between PS and TiO2 nanoparticles in the resulting composites fibres.

Fabrication of amino acid-based graphene-zinc oxide (ZnO) hybrid and its application for poly(ester–amide)/graphene-ZnO nanocomposite synthesis

Abstract

Graphene/zinc oxide (ZnO) hybrid was prepared using biosafe l-phenylalanine-functionalized graphene. In this regard, ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) were modified by γ-aminopropyltriethoxyl silane (KH550) and were covalently attached to functionalized graphene sheets by reaction of amino groups on the outer wall of ZnO NPs with the carboxyl groups existing on graphene surface. Microscopic analysis of resulted hybrid revealed good dispersion of ZnO NPs on the graphene sheets. Afterward, the prepared hybrid was used as a filler for fabrication of polymer nanocomposite (NC).

Thermal and morphological studies of poly (vinyl alcohol)/poly (vinyl pyrrolidone)/organoclay nanocomposites containing L-leucine moiety

Abstract

This work is devoted to the synthesis and characterization of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP)/organoclay (OC) (PPOC) hybrid and comparison between PPOC, PVA/PVP matrix, and PVA/OC (POC) nanocomposite (NC). The PPOC NCs were prepared by mixing a colloidal swelled solution consisting of OC with a water solution of PVA and PVP in the 3:1 weight ratio of PVA to PVP. L-Leucine ammonium ion-exchanged clay was utilized as the nanofiller.
