Thiamine hydrochloride (vitamin B1) as modifier agent for TiO2 nanoparticles and the optical, mechanical, and thermal properties of poly(vinyl chloride) composite films

Abstract

In the present investigation, TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were used for improving the thermal, mechanical and optical properties of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) matrix. To prevent the aggregation of TiO2 NPs, surface modification of TiO2 NPs was performed using vitamin B1 as a natural organic molecule with environmentally friendly and inexpensive properties.

The surface modification of CuO nanoparticles with a flame retardant coupling agent and their influence on the thermal stability of poly(amide-imide)/CuO nanocomposites

Abstract

The present work reports the fabrication and characterization of the thermally stable poly(amide–imide)/CuO nanocomposites. For this purpose, a biodegradable and optically active poly(amide–imide) was synthesized through polycondensation reaction under green media. Subsequently, the surface of CuO nanoparticles was modified with 2,3,4,5-tetrabromo-6-[(4-hydroxyphenyl) carbamoyl] benzoic acid as a new coupling agent to increase their dispersity. The modified nanoparticles were characterized by different methods.

Role of surface modification of SiO2 with bio-safe citric acid on the morphological and thermal properties of nanocomposites based on N-trimellitylimido-l-methionine diacid and 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl ether: using ultrasound irradiation and ionic liquid

Abstract

In this work, the surface of SiO2 NPs was modified with citric acid (CA) to prevent agglomeration of SiO2 nanoparticles (NP)s in the poly(amide-imide) (PAI) matrix. The PAI was synthesized from polymerization reaction of N-trimellitylimido-l-methionine with 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl ether using molten tetra-n-butylammonium bromide and triphenyl phosphite. PAI–SiO2/CA nanocomposites (PSCN)s were prepared via a fast ultrasonic irradiation process.

Nanocomposites based on biosafe nano ZnO and different polymeric matrixes for antibacterial, optical, thermal and mechanical applications

Abstract

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is an inexpensive and versatile semiconductor material used extensively in everyday applications in many areas. ZnO based polymeric nanocomposite (NC)s materials have attracted scientific society and have many applications in light emitting diodes, transparent conductors, UV-shielding, gas sensing and so on. At the beginning of each section of this review, the properties and applications of different polymers have been examined.

l -Phenylalanine edge functionalized graphite nanoplatelets as a nanoscale filler for poly(ester–amide–imide) matrix

Abstract

The recent growth in studying graphene has proved the utilization of graphene as reinforcement filler in the synthesis of polymer nanocomposite. The potential application of graphene could be improved by covalent functionalization of graphene without any defects on the graphene basal plane through edge-selective functionalization process. To this aim, in this study graphite nanosheets were selectively functionalized at their edges with l-phenylalanine in a mild reaction medium.
