Bulb Dormancy
Rest and Dormancy
Rest: period is composed of three successive phase “early rest”, “main or middle rest” and “after rest”.
Plants or their organs are in a state of “true dormancy” during middle rest, and cannot resume growth whatever the external conditions may be.
The stage of dormancy during the early rest is termed “pre-dormancy”. The transition from the fully active state through “pre-dormancy” to true dormancy. The state of dormancy is followed by “Post-dormancy” in the phase of after-rest Thus, the dormancy get deeper in the early rest, become deepest in the middle rest, and gets shallower in the after-rest.
