At LEPS, photons with a maximum energy of 2.4 GeV are produced by Compton back-scattering of laser photons with a wavelength of 351 nm from the 8-GeV electrons in the SPring-8 storage ring. To measure the energy of each photon, the recoiling electrons were momentum analyzed by a bending magnet of the storage ring anddetected by a tagging counter (tagger) inside the ring.
