Hossein Tavanai is a member of faculty in the department of Textile Engineering of Isfahan University of Technology (Iran).  He gained his B.SC (1980), M.SC (1981) and PhD (1995) From the University of Leeds. His PhD research which was carried out under the supervision of Dr. M.J. Denton and Dr. J.G. Tomka involved the structure and properties of low filament number false-twist draw-textured polyamide yarns. After gaining experience in Hoechst, Bayer, BASF and Ciba-Geigy, he joined the academic staff of the Department of Textile Engineering of Isfahan University of Technology in 1986 and has lectured on texturizing, cloth printing, dyeing techniques and fiber physics since then. A number of textile books in Farsi have been written by him. Hossein Tavanai has recently been very actively involved in research concentrating on the electrospraying of natural polymers, electropsinning and activated carbon nanofibers as well as nano composite nanofibers and conductive polymer coated nanofibers. He has spent one year at the center for material and fiber innovation (CMFI), Deakin University (Geelong, Victoria) as visiting Professor.
