“Numerical approaches to frustrated magnets”

I will present the state-of-the-art in numerical quantum many-body approaches toward understanding the low-energy behavior of magnetic Hamiltonians in frustrated models and materials. The talk will focus on the functional renormalization group and variational quantum Monte Carlo methods and their applications toward successfully deciphering the nature of exotic phases such as quantum spin liquids. The talk will conclude by discussing the challenges that face the community and some of the ongoing efforts to resolve them.
