Current Research Interests

Our researches are directed around the use of electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques and their coupled with other instrumental methods for both applied and fundamental research problems. Our works have been focusing on the following area:

  • Electrochemistry has reached sufficient maturity and sophistication to be used for the ionic liquids and layer and layer-by-layer deposition of nanoparticles and nanoparticulate films. In our research used some nanoparticles and structures to fabricate sensitive and fast response bio and chemical sensors and as well, improving electrocatalytic behaviors of electrodes in batteries.
  • There is a lot of attention to enhance anti-cancer drugs efficiency and reducing its toxicity to other cells. According our new works, the linear relationship between electrochemical signal and time of incubation of modified electrodes in artemisinin (ART) solution (as an anticancer drug) reveals that these nanomaterials (NM) are able to enhance its bioavailability in cancerous organs by aggregating drug in cancerous cells. The cell-lines treated with NM-ART sample had a higher percentage of cell death and a smaller percentage of proliferating cells, which means that smaller doses is needed to achieve the same effects (reducing drug dosage). Therefore, we hope, be able to use the suitable methodology for other drugs. SEM, AFM, electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques using for these studies.
  • Modified polymeric films and membranes and Molecular Imprinted polymer (MIP) have been utilizing in a miscellany of applications, because of its molecular identification ability, steady under various circumstances and high stability against organic solvent. Some of MIP applications are determination of drugs, small analytes, peptides and proteins. However, the preparation of MIPs is easy and has high capability to couple with other detection systems such as electrochemical, chromatography and ion mobility spectrometry (IMS). However, some limitations such as heterogeneous distribution of binding sites in the network polymer, poor site accessibility for template molecule and slow kinetic binding time are endured with application of the MIPs. As well, main drawback of MIP applications in the electrochemical techniques is lower conductivity.  Nowadays, some nanomaterials have considered for their high electrical and thermal conductivity properties. In our groups, as an effort to improve MIP properties, MIP immobilized on the surface of these materials that can be improved accessibility of the analyte to binding sites.
  • Luminescence methods (mainly chemiluminescence) are very powerful methods for study and monitoring of chemical and biological species, application of specific nanomaterials can improve its signal to developed sensitive methods. These methods can be coupled with electrochemical and FI systems.
