The Advanced Production Systems Design and Manufacturing Group— comprising skilled academic and industry experts in fields such as mechanical, electrical, and materials engineering, industrial engineering and computer science— has successfully leveraged domestic expertise to address national needs and challenges. With over 23 years of experience in industry, the group has executed a wide range of industrial, applied, and research projects, including the design and manufacture of high-tech equipment, the development and transfer of innovative technologies, project management and implementation, and the provision of comprehensive engineering and optimization services.
The group operates as a consortium comprising faculty members, industrial firms, knowledge-based companies, and students.
A summary of the activities undertaken and achievements attained is presented below:
- Group for the design and fabrication of industrial automated mechanisms and machinery; design and optimization of manufacturing process systems.
- Group in Non-traditional machining processes such as: EDM, ECM, AFM and Lithography.
- Optimization and redesign of mechanical and mechatronic systems based on current technological trends.
- Development of technical know-how for the design and production of specific composite, polymeric, and metallic components.
- Ultrasonic Processes Group.
- Processing and Analysis Group:
         - Modeling, optimal design, analysis, and advanced simulation
         - Stress, thermal, and dynamic analysis, etc.
         - Failure and breakdown prediction; design and implementation of digital twins (software and hardware).
